Holy Sapphic Switcheroo Bat-fans!
Leapin' lipstick lesbians! DC Comics has revived an old Batman character to play for the other team. No, not the Joker--the OTHER team. Yes, that one.In a move that's meant to broaden the DC cast of characters, the comics publisher is looking to tackle personal issues with a character that has a "different point of view".
It might seem visionary, but it's hardly the first time a character with forbidden yearnings has graced comic covers. It is however the first time a main-title character has been given a new sexual identity.
For the unitiated, Batwoman (alias Kathy Kane) should not be confused with Batgirl (you probablly remember Barbara Gordon best).
In any case Batwoman was killed off in '79 and wiped from the collective comic consiousness via the Crisis on Inifinite Earths Series....huh? Forget it.
All you need to know is that meaningful cultural discourse aside, DC is about to make every male comic fan between 14 and 40's freakin' summer.
